Goalless draw in the clash of Sandecja Nowy Sącz and Podbeskidzie Bielsko-Biała, in Matchday 18 of the Polish II liga (0-0). Although there were zero goals on the scoreboard at the end, we saw many exciting actions.

Sandecja Nowy Sącz on the home side (who played in the Polish highest tier Ekstraklasa for the first time in its history back in season 2017/2018), led by coach Rafał Smalec, opted for a 4-2-3-1 formation (both in & out of possession). In the attacking phase, focus was on to take the advantages of the wingers’ (Daniel Pietraszkiewicz as left winger, and French Siméon Oure as right winger) dynamism and dribbling skills, and also of the attacking midfielder’s (top level club GKS Katowice loanee Kacper Ćwielong, 2007 born) mobility and (progressive) passing play. In terms of defending, they demonstrated solid and balanced performance, mainly thanks to team captain (and left centre-back) Kamil Słaby and Tomasz Nawotka (who played as left-back). Although Mateusz Jeleń on the goal-line (2007 born GK, currently on loan from Górnik Zabrze) didn’t have any special saves to perform, he definitely needs to be highlighted for the clean sheet.

On the opposition side, Podbeskidzie Bielsko-Biała (who competed in the Ekstraklasa last in season 2020/2021), under the guidance of coach Marcin Włodarski, played in 3-5-2 formation — which often reminded of a 3-1-4-2 shape, as Mateusz Kizyma (2002) played slightly deeper, in the defensive midfielder position, closer to the defender trio. Their defense was well organized, mainly thanks to the experienced centre-back Marcin Biernat (more than 260 matches in the I liga, Polish 2nd tier), who came up as the leader of this section; the team also demonstrated organization and discipline in its build-up tactic. Wide midfielders (Maksymilian Sitek as left midfielder, and Krzysztof Kolanko as right midfielder) tried to give boost for the offense by their very good dribbling skills. In addition to the defensive midfielder (Mateusz Kizyma), Marcin Urynowicz (central midfielder) also should be highlighted for playmaking. Goalkeeper (and team captain) Konrad Forenc delivered this game with clean sheet.

Sandecja will play its first competitive match in the new year against other Bielsko-Biała based team Rekord (whose clash against NKP Podhale Nowy Targ you can read here) away, while Podbeskidzie will travel to Śląsk Wrocław II (Matchday 20).
