At their home ground, Brahen kenttä in Helsinki, KäPa secured their place in the Ykkösliiga by defeating OLS Oulu’s young side 4–2. Combined with their convincing 3–0 victory in the first leg of the playout, the result ensured KäPa’s survival in Finland’s second tier for next season.
Käpylän Pallo (commonly referred as KäPa), coached by Lari Lummepuro in a 1-3-5-2 formation, had great dynamics in possession on their left side with their left wingback Leinonen and their side midfielder Kallio (nr 27) interchanging positions (as you can see in the image below).
This allowed Kallio to receive the ball out wide and to attack 1v1 before playing precise through passes, as for the assist he made to Manneh for his team´s first goal (see image below). Kallio was a ´key player´ for the home team and secured the win by scoring the fourth goal with a fantastic shot from long distance (61´).
The interchanges on the left side helped also opening the inner channel for Leinonen to underlap, as in the situation which led to their third goal which was scored by Samuel Anini Jr., who scored two goals from close range in this match (see image below).
Oulun Luistinseura (or OLS Oulu), coached by Mikko Mannila also in a 1-3-5-2 formation, was very dangerous early in the match from offensive corners. They hit the post twice from two consecutive corner kicks—first through Ala-Iso’s header and then from Paananen’s long-range shot.
On the ball the young playmaker Korhonen positioned himself right behind the opposition front pressure while the other two midfielders Paananen and Raittinen started higher up (see image below). Raittinen operated mainly between the opposition defensive and midfield line showing good vision and passing accuracy.
They high pressed in a 1-3-4-1-2 formation with Raittinen (nr 47) moving behind the front two to close down the opposition central midfielder and captain of Käpylän Pallo, Denis Cukici.
Their two goals scored by Babb (57´) and Suutari (64´) helped reducing the distance from their opponents but never challenged the outcome of the match.
