Falkenbergs FF proved to be genuine promotion contenders for the Allsvenskan with an impressive away performance against the newly promoted Nordic United FC. With this 1–4 victory, they now share first place with Varbergs BoIS after eight league matches.
Nordic United FC, coached by Steven Younan in a 1-3-4-3 formation, looked to progress down the left side from goal-kicks. To create space there, they positioned their right centre-back behind the opposition’s front two, encouraging one of the opposition central midfielders to step out and mark him (see the positioning of the back three in the image below).
However, after one of their goal-kicks, they lost possession in their defensive third, conceding a dangerous counterattack that resulted in a penalty for the opposition. Andersson converted the penalty to give Falkenbergs FF a 0–1 lead (27´).
In their positional attacks, their left centre-back Johansson took initiative by performing well-timed underlapping runs to deliver dangerous crosses in the penalty box (see image below).
Their biggest chances — and ultimately their goal — came from their experienced striker, Shaab, who entered the pitch in the 60th minute. His off-the-ball movement disrupted the opposition’s defensive stability. Shaab scored in the 78th minute (1-4) with a precise header following an attacking corner.
Falkenbergs FF, coached by Christoffer Andersson in a 1-3-4-3 formation, benefited from Melker Nilsson’s ability to provide effective supporting angles during the build-up phase and combine with his teammates to play through the opposition pressure (as shown in the image below).
At times, their centre-back Hansson advanced into higher positions unexpectedly to support the attack, creating problems for the opposition’s defensive structure.
During goal-kicks, Falkenbergs FF positioned one of their two central midfielders, Melker Nilsson, close to the goalkeeper, while centre-back Hansson pushed forward behind the opposition’s first line of pressure (see image below).
They high pressed cutting one side of the pitch with their left winger jumping on the opposition goalkeeper to close the switch of play (see image below).
They executed one of their offensive corners perfectly, scoring the 0-3 goal, by freeing Bertilsson in the near post area after a series of well coordinated movements and blocks (see image below).
Here the player who stood out:
Albin Andersson (Falkenbergs), left winger / striker born 2000.
Albin is a tall striker with a strong physical profile and good finishing ability. He had a massive impact on the match by scoring three goals.
For the first goal (0–1), he won a penalty after beating his direct opponent 1v1 inside the opposition box, before converting the spot-kick with great precision. For the second goal (0–2), he showed composure by finishing a cutback cross efficiently. In the third goal, he timed his movement well, cutting in front of his defender after positioning himself on the blind side.
According to Transfermarkt, his contract appears to expire at the end of this year. He could be an interesting option for a club in the Danish 1st Division as a target striker during the next winter transfer window.
