Fredrikstad FK played in a 1-4-3-3 formation throughout the match.
The home side made the perfect start, scoring with their very first attack of the game. In the opening minute, Arnesen received the ball outside the penalty area and produced an excellent strike from around 20 meters into the top corner to give Fredrikstad an early lead.
Despite scoring early, Fredrikstad did not dominate possession during the opening stages. Instead, they remained compact and looked to exploit the spaces left by Raufoss through quick transitions.
In the 10th minute, Fredrikstad produced another dangerous counter-attack which resulted in a clear goalscoring opportunity, but their striker failed to convert despite facing an open goal.
One of Fredrikstad’s main attacking patterns throughout the first half was playing direct balls behind the defensive line. They repeatedly targeted the spaces left by Raufoss’ high defensive line, allowing their striker to use his pace to create dangerous situations. This movement consistently caused problems for the opposition defence.
Fredrikstad scored their second goal after once again exploiting poor defensive organization. A gap between the Raufoss centre-backs allowed Asad Kurpejovic to run through and finish comfortably.
Defensively, Fredrikstad applied most of their pressure in the middle third instead of committing to an aggressive high press, looking to regain possession before attacking quickly.
Towards the end of the first half, the game became more congested in midfield. As a result, Fredrikstad were forced to circulate possession towards the wide areas instead of progressing through the centre.
During the second half, Fredrikstad became more transition-oriented, choosing to attack quickly after recovering possession near their own penalty area instead of controlling possession.
Following Raufoss’ goal in the 56th minute, Fredrikstad reacted positively and almost restored their advantage only two minutes later after creating another clear scoring opportunity.
In the 85th minute, Fredrikstad were reduced to ten players after defender Johansen received a red card, forcing the team to defend the final minutes with a numerical disadvantage.

Raufoss IL played in a 1-4-3-3 formation throughout the match.
After conceding in the opening minute, Raufoss responded well by taking control of possession for several minutes. Their attacks were mainly built down the left flank, where they attempted to create overloads and deliver the ball into dangerous areas.
One of the team’s strongest tactical aspects during the opening stages was their aggressive high pressing. Raufoss consistently pressed Fredrikstad’s defensive line, attempting to force mistakes high up the pitch and recover possession quickly.
However, despite controlling possession for periods of the first half, Raufoss struggled to deal with Fredrikstad’s direct attacking approach. Their defensive line was exposed several times by runs in behind, eventually leading to the second goal.
Towards the end of the first half, Raufoss increased the intensity around midfield together with Fredrikstad, creating a more physical battle that slowed the overall rhythm of the game.
The visitors started the second half strongly and controlled possession with much greater aggression. Their improved intensity allowed them to push Fredrikstad deeper into their own half.
In the 56th minute, Raufoss capitalised on a major defensive mistake by Fredrikstad. Erdi Sopa reacted quickest inside the penalty area and finished well to reduce the deficit and shift the momentum.
After scoring, Raufoss continued to push forward, although Fredrikstad remained dangerous on transition attacks throughout the remainder of the match.
Player who stood out
Asad Kurpejovic (2010) – ST | Fredrikstad FK U17
Asad Kurpejovic was one of the players who stood out most during Fredrikstad U17‘s 2-2 draw against Raufoss IL U17. The 16-year-old showed excellent speed and movement throughout the match, particularly with his ability to recognize spaces behind the opposition’s defensive line and make his runs at the right moment.
His timing when attacking the space behind the defenders was one of his most impressive qualities and showed good awareness of the game. He consistently looked to position himself in dangerous areas and was able to use his pace to create separation from his markers.
Kurpejovic also showed good game reading, understanding when to attack space and when to become involved in the build-up. His performance was further highlighted by a goal, contributing directly to Fredrikstad’s attacking output.
For a player born in 2010, Kurpejovic looks like an interesting prospect to follow, particularly due to his combination of pace, movement, timing, and understanding of space.
