At Intility Arena in Oslo, Sarpsborg 08 FF responded to the first two home goals with a pair of well-worked finishes in a frantic opening spell, with four goals arriving inside the opening 30 minutes. Vålerenga Fotball eventually struck the decisive goal in the 90th minute to secure a dramatic 3–2 victory.
Vålerenga Fotball, coached by Johannes Moesgaard in a 4-4-2 formation, often used rotations on the right side, with striker Thorvaldsen drifting wide and winger Bjørdal moving inside to better suit their respective strengths — Thorvaldsen’s pace in wide areas and Bjørdal’s ability to receive between the lines (see image below).
They overloaded the opposition penalty area with multiple runners, particularly in the positional attack that produced their second goal. The move ended with a handball by Halvorsen, and Sørensen converted the resulting penalty (see image below).
Out of possession, the two strikers, Haren and Thorvaldsen, screened passes into opposition holding midfielder Aimar Sher before jumping to press the centre-backs (see image below).
Sarpsborg 08 FF, coached by Even Sel in a 1-4-3-3 formation, used their defensive midfielder in their build up to create an overload against the two opposition strikers and made a good use of the right half-space with their right winger Sørli (as in the moment below).
Their defensive midfielder Sher dropped to play third man combination to beat the opposition pressure on goal-kicks (see image below).
They penetrated mostly through their side, with their first two goals coming from there. In both cases their right-back Niyukuri was decisive with a second assist (through pass) and an assist after beating his opponent 1v1.
They were dangerous from set pieces, particularly through long throw-ins and clever variations. At times, they played short to exploit a 2v1 overload near the ball before delivering crosses into the penalty area (see image below).

Daniel is a strong target striker with good physical qualities and solid finishing. He is strong in both aerial and ground duels, and he uses his body well to put defenders off balance. He can hold up the ball with his back to goal and link play with accurate passes to teammates. He also showed good speed when attacking open space. For his first goal, he made a smart run across his defender and finished from close range with a tap-in.
Based on his qualities and performances, he looks ready for a move to a mid-table club in Serie A or La Liga.
Andreas Nibe (Sarpsborg), left winger born 2003.
Andreas showed his strong technical ability with the goal he scored to make it 2–2. After receiving the ball inside the penalty area, he used two quick and composed touches to finish accurately into the corner of the net. He combined well with teammates in tight spaces, often using one- and two-touch play to keep attacks moving. He also positioned himself well between the lines, receiving with an open body shape that allowed him to play precise through passes forward. In addition, he showed good explosiveness when driving with the ball, especially over the first 5–10 metres.
Based on his profile and performance level, he would fit well in a top-six club in the Danish Superliga.
