Thór established an early advantage in the seventh minute through a right side corner kick. After Stjarnan failed to fully clear the initial delivery, #22 Ágúst Hlynsson reacted quickest to a second ball and converted to give the home side a 1-0 lead.
Operating from a 4-5-1 shape, Thór looked to absorb pressure and attack directly through long balls into space behind Stjarnan’s defensive line. By the 16th minute, the home side held the majority of possession and appeared comfortable creating attacking threats through runners moving beyond the opposition back line.
An early injury forced Thór into a substitution in the 12th minute when #37 Sigfús Fannar Gunnarsson entered the match after #7 Alti Sigurjónsson was withdrawn.
As the half progressed, momentum gradually shifted toward Stjarnan. The visitors began controlling possession and spending longer periods in advanced areas, although their final-third execution lacked quality. Several promising attacks broke down before producing clear shots on goal.
Stjarnan’s best opportunities arrived around the half-hour mark. A significant chance emerged in the 31st minute, while another dangerous attack developed from a right-sided cross in the 38th minute. However, poor finishing and Thór’s defensive organization preserved the home side’s lead.
Thór remained dangerous in transition throughout the half. Their ability to regain possession and counterattack quickly created several opportunities, including a promising break in the 36th minute and additional chances shortly before halftime.
In the 47th minute, Stjarnan appeared to have equalized after capitalizing on a turnover near Thór’s goal, but the effort was disallowed due to a foul earlier in the sequence.
In the 51st minute, Stjarnan doubled their lead following a foul by Thór’s left center back near the corner of the penalty area, the #19 Daníel Finns Matthíasson delivered a direct free kick toward the near post and found the net, shifting momentum decisively toward the visitors.
The match then opened considerably. Both teams exchanged attacks in transition, creating a fast-paced and entertaining contest. While chances appeared at both ends, finishing remained inconsistent.
