In the second leg of the Allsvenskan relegation/promotion playoff, IFK Norrköping were unable to overturn their 3–0 first-leg defeat against a solid Örgryte IS side and were therefore relegated to Superettan for the first time since 2011. Örgryte IS secured promotion back to Sweden’s top flight, returning to Allsvenskan for the first time since 2009.

IFK Norrköping, coached by Martin Falk in a 1-4-4-2 formation, was dangerous in the first half with their inverted winger Sigurgeirsson who delivered precise inswinging crosses into the opposition penalty box. On one of them, their forward Nyman got in front of his opponent and headed the ball towards the far side of the goal, forcing the opposition goalkeeper Gustafsson to dive for a difficult save.

In their build up the two centre-backs Anton Eriksson & Kevin Höög Jansson stayed narrow allowing the midfielders to drop on their sides. When this happened the full-back was ready to move up to support the play in a higher position creating a dilemma for the opposition pressing winger (see image below).

Out of possession, they high pressed with the two strikers against the opposition back three. They managed to force the play outside and apply intense pressure as in this case (image below), when the right striker Prica intercepted Renecke forward pass while the right winger Andersson closed the inside channel.

Örgryte IS, coached by Andreas Holmberg in a 1-3-4-3 formation, relied on Sana ability to pick precise passes behind the opposition defensive line for the other two forwards, Christoffersson and Dahlqvist. Dahlqvist had a big chance in the first half after Sana beat his direct opponent and entered the penalty box before serving a precise cutback for the winger, whose finish ended over the bar.

In their build up, the side centre-backs moved wider to receive the ball from the goalkeeper Gustafsson before playing long (see image below).

Out of possession they started the match with an intense ´winger pressure´ (see image below), before moving in a compact low block as the game progressed.

They defended their goal with bravery and resilience making density in front of the goal-line to block the opposition shots and stood together until the end of the match making their fans proud and happy.
