In front of their numerous home fans, IFK Göteborg secured three points by capitalizing on two offensive corners in their 2-1 victory over IF Brommapojkarna. The away team showed confidence and initiative during the first half, but the red card heavily influenced the course of the match. Both teams showcased top-level talent.
IFK Göteborg, coached by Stefan Billborn, lined up in a 1-4-3-3 formation. During offensive goal-kicks, left centre-back August Erlingmark stepped into a higher position, while goalkeeper Elis Bishesari positioned himself alongside right centre-back Rockson Yeboah. This positioning allowed Erlingmark to move outside the front two’s pressing cover shadow, receive possession, and help bypass the opposition’s first line of pressure (see video below).
In open play, their defensive midfielder, David Kruse, frequently dropped between the two centre-backs to form a back three. This allowed right-back Alexander Jallow (formerly of Brescia) to push into a more advanced position, while right winger Adam Bergmark Wiberg drifted inside before making runs into the space behind the opposition’s defensive line (see video below).
On attacking corners, they targeted the near-post area, with runners attacking the far post to create second-contact opportunities (see video below). They scored their first goal from a corner in the 54th minute, when Rockson Yeboah headed the ball into the net. Their second goal also came from the development of a corner, with substitute Sebastian Clemmensen showing great determination to find space and finish on target in the 79th minute.
IF Brommapojkarna, coached by Ulf Kristiansson, lined up in a 1-4-2-3-1 formation and dominated possession until the 33rd minute, when right winger Mads Hansen was sent off for violent conduct.
They frequently exploited the space between the opposition’s left centre-back and left-back with well-timed runs in behind (see video below).
They frequently delivered early crosses into the penalty area but failed to make contact with them, highlighting a lack of coordination and timing in the final phase of their attacks.
They scored the temporary equalizer in the 67th minute through Norwegian Oliver Berg, formerly of Malmö, who finished a counterattack following the opponents’ wide free-kick.

Rockson Yeboah (IFK Göteborg), centre-back born 2004.
Rockson is a centre-back with strong aerial ability and physical presence in duels. He scored an excellent goal by timing his jump well, generating significant elevation with both feet off the ground before directing a powerful header into the back of the net. He also dealt with dangerous crosses effectively through strong positioning and anticipation, making interceptions both with his head and his feet.
Rockson’s next move could be to a top-six Superliga club, from where he could potentially develop towards a move to a mid-table English Championship team.
Oliver Månsson (IFK Göteborg), offensive midfielder born 2009.
Oliver is a box-to-box midfielder with strong awareness and composure. He handled pressured situations effectively, showing the ability to progress the ball with both feet. He attacked the opposition defensive line with well-timed runs and demonstrated good anticipation and speed when collecting second balls.
Oliver could quickly develop into a profile for top-three Allsvenskan clubs before potentially making a move to 2. Bundesliga or French Ligue 1.
Sion Oppong (IF Brommapojkarna), left winger born 2007.
Sion is a fast inverted winger, capable of moving the ball quickly before opponents can engage him, allowing him to escape 1v1 situations. He displays good acceleration and close ball control. He consistently fixes opponents before releasing the ball to overlapping full-backs with excellent timing. He is also capable of playing precise through passes to help teammates break through the opposition defensive line.
Sion has already scored two goals in 12 Allsvenskan appearances and made his debut for the Sweden U21 national team in June. His rapid development could see him improve his numbers further this season and potentially earn a move to a stronger league, such as the Eredivisie or Belgian Pro League. In the longer term, he could become an interesting profile for lower- to mid-table Bundesliga clubs.
Lukas Björklund (IF Brommapojkarna), striker born 2004.
Lukas is a target player with strong aerial ability and the capacity to set up teammates when receiving with his back to goal. He regularly dropped deep to receive the ball and move it into wide areas before attacking the penalty box. He showed good awareness under pressure, using flick-ons and even chipping the ball over opponents to escape pressure situations. He displays good dynamism and mobility, occasionally drifting into wide areas to deliver quality crosses. He remained connected to the team while defending with 10 men against 11, showing strong resilience and defensive discipline.
Lukas could be an interesting profile for Serie B clubs in Italy, particularly mid- to top-table teams. From there, he could develop into a potential Serie A profile, especially for lower- to mid-table clubs.
